Is it bad to apply to college twice?

I applied to San Francisco State University this past October and I'm waiting to get accepted sometime in January. I've realized since then that I don't want to go next fall 2010 but the year after, 2011. If I get accepted, is it bad to get an acceptance letter, not go, and then apply again in 10 months?
