Is it bad for a 1990 yamaha waverunner to idle for 30 or more minutes?

My husband and I took out our waverunner today and it was running great, untill he took it out and let it idle for 30-40 minutes. After that it died, he got towed in and we let it sit for a few minutes then it started but it sounded crappy and would die right away. We waited and then it started up right but would only ride for a few minutes, then it would just die. A couple times it started right back up only to die again, but mostly we had to wait a few minutes for it to start back up again then it would just die. It got going again once for a few minutes when my husband rode it fast but died right away when he slowed down. My dad thinks that something happened to the spark plugs? Im wondering if idleing it for that long of a time messed something up, because it was great all day yesterday, and today untill my husband idled it for 30+ minutes. Does anyone know if its bad to idle an older 90 yamaha waverunner? If so what do you think happened? If not what do you think sounds like is wrong with it? Thanks and God bless you.
 
It might of clogged the fuel filter or it could of spoiled the plugs so I'd change the fuel filter on it and for sure do the plugs.Yes it's not good to idle any engine for too long.Perform a basic tune up on it and treat the fuel system.

I dont think idleing it hurt it. its your spark plugs or your gas or your fuel injectors are most likely your problems if not send me a me an email ive been a mechanic for 21 years and i say there you most likely problems.
