Is it at all possible for a extinct animal to come back?

In my science class we were learning about fossils and they gave the false definition to extinct (it says a thing thats is gone from Earth and will NEVER return) When i caught the never i remembered it might be possible for them to come back so i told my teacher it was false and she said to look it up on the internet (as i am) and ill get 10% better grade so i was like ok sure.Can you plz help me out?
