Is it a waste of time to learn things like marketing, economics,...

...communications... in school? Those classes are all theoretical and they basically teach you things that are common sense and that you just never really think about. As interesting as they are, sometimes I think they are useless. Reading my econ and marketing books sometimes I read something really interesting but these things are simplified and theoretical and they never happen in the real world. My friend is taking a course in communications and she is learning that when someone says "hello", they are greeting them. She is learning about "feedforward" and "feedback" in a conversation. These things are all interesting but sometimes I wonder why I am paying tuition just so I can "learn" these things.

Well, it's good to have some kind of foundation. But I do agree that most of the school carriculums are just simply waste of time. Real world business moves at the crazy speed. I wish there is a quick start course that people can take without having to go through all those hells in order to sell an apple. I am trying to upstart a business, but there are lot of little things that you will never get from the school, like where to apply for a biz license, what kind of license, paying taxes, what to do with the access of inventory, things like that you just can't find from the text books.....
