Is it a requirement to have a bike lock if you wanna ride to school?

I wanna ride my bike to school but i don't have a bike lock and i don't have the money for a bike lock so i was woundering if i needed one (btw im in middle school) they dont steal or nothin.....
I dont have money not even a penny jezzz
