is it a good idea to store my pictures on a flash drive?

we are getting rid of this computer soon and i have hundreds and hundreds of photos on here. should i put them on a flash drive (it has 8GB) and leave it in my memory box. will that hold all my photos? would i be able to safely take them off my pc then?????????????

For a time. But to preserve them for a longer time, burn a disk.

It is the best way and the most recommended way to safely transfer pictures as it uses the same type of memory your computers do so files will be treated the same inside a flash drive as they would in a computer.

well i dont know what a "memory box" is but copying the pictures onto your usb then copying them onto your new computer is a perfectly safe way of doing it

an 8gb usb can hold 4000 pictures if they were taken with a 10 megapixel camera (on the highest setting) most likeley this is not the case and you will be able to store allot more then 4000 pictures on it
