Is it a good idea to go to school for photography?

I am 23 years old, I have been to school for medical Assistant and due to financial issues i dropped out of college for media production. I actually got married shortly after and have not attended school for 3 years. I want to go back to school for Photography, but I don't want to have loans for something I may not get good at, or that wont land me a descent job. I don't want to wast my time, but I know the only way I'm going to find a good job is by going back to school I guess you can say i'm lost. But I want to know how easy it it to work for your self or find a job in a company as a photographer? Is it a good idea to go to school for photography?? HELP IM SOOO FREAKIN LOST...
okay people I'm asking about Photography. I finished my Medical Assistant program and I make more money doing temp work then do medical assistant. they only make about 10-12 bucks an hour.
 
You should go back to being a medical assistant because unless you work for a newspaper or move to L.A and be a paparazzi, you will make no money being a photographer.
