Is it a good idea to buy electronics from ebay sellers in Hong Kong?

I'm looking to buy a camcorder as a Christmas gift and I found many on ebay at extremely low prices. Most of the merchants are somewhere in China or Japan. I'm wondering- is it worth it to buy from sellers such as these? are they too good to be true? does shipping cost a lot? has anyone been burned by such sellers? and am i potentially entering into some kind of scam?

I was scammed when I bought an mp3 player on Ebay from Hong Kong. It displayed more memory than it actually had. The seller had 98% positive feedback.

just make sure its authentic and not a look alike. Its always a risk no matter what country you buy from online.
