Is it a bad idea to buy a car that has a Salvage Title?

My mom wants to go check out cars that have a salvage title because I need one to get to and from college.

Is this a bad idea?

if it was in a wreck, then it is a bad idea
if it was stolen, but not damaged, then it is a good idea.

Please tell your mom that the car that Princess Diana was in when she died was a SALVAGE auto ... that means that the car was in fact three different Mercedes autos that were welded together to make one automobile ... Try something that is your price range that has a CARFAX and you will be able to see that it is a safer car to drive,,, The salvage title is applied to a car that has been wrecked .. do not drive that car..

Not really, but it truly depends on who's going to be paying insurance depending on the salvage report, the insurance could be a shitload if you are young. Also, you won't get much for it if you decide to sell it. I would suggest getting one thats not salvaged because it will be better and cheaper in the long run.
