Is is safe for a dog/cat to eat a fish right out of the ocean?

dogs come from wolves and they eat prairie dogs, fish and the occasional chicken if it can get in the hen house. Cats haven't always been lame and they still have been hard wired to catch/eat mice, rats, birds etc. but they don't hunt kibbles.

Seeing as how Cats and Dogs have relatives in the wild that do it all the time, It shouldn't be a problem unless it was a stingray or something
