Is Inception worth watching or is it a big pile of overhyped nonsense about nothing!!

No thanks... You gave the best answer.

It's obvious it is complete nonsense that somebody who isn't over excited and more excited about real life stuff couldn't be swayed.

Leonardo DiCaprio has now been in two good films of the year: Shutter Island and Inception

Think he's going to get an award or two this year. Though I did predict Shutter Island's ending before their big reveal.

Is that it then? SounRAB like you'd pretty much made up your mind already, if a single critical review has cemented it for you.

I can accept that people might not like it, but it most certainly isn't a series of "unrelated scenes strung together". Frankly, that sounRAB like the person either couldn't follow what was going on, or couldn't be bothered to concentrate. It isn't a film where you can just sit there thinking about other things and expect to still understand what's happening.

An entire forum recommenRAB it to you, but since one guy says no, that suddenly means all the recommendations are nonsense........he did state that he wasn't really paying attention as much as he should because he had other things on his mind.

I hate to see you get drawn in to those crazy mass suicide sacarafices they have in america, lots of people would say don't get involved, then one guy would say it's worth it, you'd be jumping on to the bandwagon with ease.

See Shutter Island instead. They're both very similiar except
Decaprio can never pull himself out of his mad visions in SI while he can never pull himself away from his wife in Inception. Shutter Island did the idea first though and did it better.

It definitely isn't the best film you will ever see, however, I believe it is an enjoyable one. I would recommend it.

Sadly, my viewing experience was ruined by a pathetic excuse of a woman, who was sat behind me tutting whenever there was a bit of violence on screen or Leonardo di Caprio's character saw his wife. Sadly it wasn't just once or twice - I would say that for the last hour of the film, the idiot tutted every 5 minutes or so. Even my friend found it distracting and she is far more tolerant than I am.

I don't think I'll be rushing to see a film at a cinema again anytime soon.

I couldn't help but think of Shutter Island when watching this film. First of all the lead character, of course, I think he played a very similar character in both... perhaps he's going to become typecast soon. The whole "is it real or not" theme was a big part in both.

In SI at the end I thought he did pull himself out of his mad visions but couldn't live with the guilt so pretended he was still delusional so he would have to have the lobotomy? He says something like "is it better to live like a monster or die a good man?", which suggests to me he now knows what he did and couldn't handle it. That was what I got from it, anyway...

I liked Inception but it was in no way original and I can understand The Matrix comparisons; both films are about "another world" which you only get to when you're in some kind if sleep stage.

I posted in another thread about it, but I really do not get why people claim to be confused by the film. It was very simple. It was just a dream, within a dream, within a dream (and perhaps one step further depending on what the ending meant).

I'd say it's worth watching and "about nothing" :)

The main thing is that the kicking-off point is utter nonsense, i.e. there's a machine that with some chemicals allows people to enter each other's dreams, and therefore their minRAB. The filmmakers quite rightly don't try and explain this, you just have to accept it and go for the ride.

If you're able to do that, you'll have a good time with a meticulously plotted story that explores this concept in a fun and exciting setting. If you just keep thinking "this is nonsense", you won't get anything out of it at all - that's certainly what Mrs. Mickey thought!

As an aside, I think people are getting too caught up in the complexities when talking about it, just take it at face value...

Yeah, that is more or less what I meant.
The pull of another world to handle something unpleasant is just too strong. The line about living like a monster I think is just a moment of insight though. I don't think he would gone off to be lobotomised compos mentis.

True. It's very well-made and a lot of thought has gone into making the plot both complex and exciting, but it doesn't have anything new to say. The music's good, the film looks fantastic, the acting is fine, it's well worth watching, but it's not actually about "anything". It's just a well-made shaggy-dog story.

Yes I would say it is worth watching. Even if it is a bit on the long side at 2 and 1/2 hours(actually it does zip along for the most part). Part of the problem for a lot of films nowadays is the media hype (greatest film ever TM - how many times have we heard that one?). Inception I suppose doesn't quite live up to all the hype it got, but for 80% of the time I would say it does. It is good that for a blockbuster film you do have to pay attention and use your brain for once so that should be applauded.

You have to decide for yourself. I hated it but others think it's the best film they've seen all year. It just depenRAB on what floats your boat.
For me it was too long, humourless and had poor charactors I didn't give a rats ass about. Some of the special effects were impressive but I'm not he type to get excited about that stuff. The concept is a clever one but I didn't feel like I was watching a clever film.

It's worth going to see in the cinema, but I don't hold it up there as one of the best films made like some people have been. It's an interesting film but one the day after I had forgotten about and moved on. But I know some people who have gone 2 or 3 times and discuss it all the time trying to work out if it has some deep meaning and such

For me it was hyped up way too much by the time I went and saw it.
