Is hypnosis scientifically debated as real or false?

Like, I'm not saying if hypnosis is scientifically debated as false by "some" scientists, in the same way just as evolution is debated as false by "some" scientists also.

What I mean is what is the general/majority consensus?
 
No one doubts that hypnosis exists. The debate is what can be done with it.

Some people, such as Kreskin, have brought the matter to very serious debate.
 
It's a real effect, but not everyone is subject to hypnosis to any large degree. There are tricks to finding out you are suggestible, and stage hypnotists are able to narrow down the most suggestible person in the crowd for their tricks to work.

i think hypnosis is pretty much disregarded by the scientific community as it only tends to work on those who are already EXTREMELY susceptible to suggestion.
