Is Hollywood winning the war against the pirates?

Holllywood has now taken a more mature approach to piracy. Things like Managed copy. DRM systems that no longer phone home like Cinavia give greater protection to their works while at the same time not intruding on the right to privacy of legitimate consumers.

They have also innovated ways out of making piracy practical. 3D makes piracy practically impossible. and Blu-Rays updating DRM means that it would probably never be cracked.

The war on piracy will never be won, and anyone who says that pirate copies of movies are getting worse in quality are just flat out wrong.
There are numerous ways to watch downloaded media on a TV without burning to DVD. And saying the quality isn't as good is a bit misleading. There are several possible reasons for your copy not being too great, but it's very easy to get versions that are as good as the HD broadcasts from TV. As for "time and trouble"...well, again, that's only down to your ignorance/inexperience of the area. I could decide to see any episode of pretty much any show right now and be sitting down to watch in a minute or two.

The only way they'll stop internet piracy is if net neutrality is abolished, with ISPs forced to restrict their services to particular protocols and websites that are not on an approved government and entertainment industry whitelist de-prioritised, with non-approved video and audio blocked or extremely slow to download. Give it ten years and we'll probably be there!

Some ppl will download a movie if they didn't see it in cinema or if it's a straight to dvd release, and if they like it they will buy it, that way they'll get all the extras
