Someone i know has a small 40's house i guess and the rooms are very small but he has a 37inch lcd telly in the living room and with the layout it is only about 5 ft from the sofa.
Plus he has a 32 inch lcd in his bedroom so if you work it out the avarage double bed is 6ft long and the telly is about 2ft from the bottom of the bed so do these people not realise that v.large screens are totally out of proportion to the room if you do not beleive me try and put a 12ft fishing rod together in a house the avarage is 10ft by 8ft living room size and before you say he must be gay i am a happily married hetrosexual male to me it is just infantile and i have 26inch lcd in my living room and it is more than enough

I have a 52" TV in the great room and a 41"LCD in the bedroom. I just like to watch TV. It has nothing to do with symbols or status. It might be how he was raised. If he didn't have a TV growing up he might be making up for it now:)

32 or 37" lcd? Get a grip - those are medium at best!!! I thought you were going to say 62" to 70" - now that's getting into phallic territory. A 40" widescreen is about the same height as a 27" standard screen which is about average.

Not so much a phallic symbol. More a status symbol. He is obviously a person who likes to display his wealth and probably doesn't have much else to say for himself. Kind of sad really. Either that or he really likes TV.

My daughters boyfreind has the biggest flat screen I have ever seen on his wall. He says it's to watch the footy better but after 15 mins of watching anything that big at such close range your eyes start to water and you miss half the action cos you're too busy wiping your eyes! So I would say it is a phallic symbol. And a trend thing. And trying to have the latest biggest thing on the block!

I have a 50" in my bedroom (it's a large bedroom about 20' by 18') and a 65" in my tv room. I don't think of it as a phallic thing. I just love tv. I don't think any of my friends have ever seen my bedroom tv and I certainly don't make a point of it. I just enjoy it.

Do you have something that your passionate about? Do you spend way too much money on it? Golf clubs, car, decorating? If so, same deal here, just with TVs (and other electronics).
