Is having a pap test normal during pregnany?

I'am scheduled for a pap test next week. My mom doesnt understand why i have to have one done. Is this normal while pregnant? 26 weeks.
I havent had a pap in almost a year, and have switched doctors about 2 weeks ago since my original doctor doesnt deal with pregnant woman, he said it was just a normal pap test.

well im 7 weeks and im getting one tomorrow..
my mom is the same about me getting one...
 
It's very normal in pregnancy although it's usually done in early pregnancy. Ask your doctor why you are getting on now. It may be that you just didn't get one in early pregnancy and now they want you to get one. Every pregnant woman gets a pap.
 
I got mine at my second appointment.....I'm not sure why they are doing it so late but all doctors are different...Are you sure it's just a pap??
 
Yes, it's very normal. The Doctors perform a pap just to make sure you do not have any STD's that can effect the babies growth or effect them during labor. My Dr. told me that I would have one in the beginning of the pregancy and another towards the end. Nothing to worry about...just routine.
 
I had to have one too. The doctor said since it was a 1 and 1/2 since I had one its safe to have one done.
 
Yes, this is totally normal. My mom had the same reaction. Our moms need to understand that medical care during pregnancy has dramatically changed since the 1970s/80s.
