Is graphic arts and graphic comunication the same ?

hiya im doing the new A level course Graphic communication Arts and i want to know if graphic arts is just the same as it also i know that there is illustration in it and printing and stuff like lithography but i want to know if this is the right chosen subject for me really i want to know if it involves graphic drawings like you see in comic books yada yada and if it can help me with clothes desighn seeing as im taking textiles as well
