Is getting eaten out awkward? Or having sex?

I've never been eaten out before but my boyfriend wants me to try it. I feel that just sitting there getting eaten out might be awkward especially if it takes awhile. Like what am I suppose to do while he's eating me out?Just sit there an stare? And sex seems awkward to, like it's somewhat quiet in the room and it's just like the guy pounding in you for like an hour?
