Is Gears of War massively overrated?

I really cant place my finger on it, but i dont understand what makes the Gears series so popular(I am a 360 gamer and own both GOW respectfully. Im guessing thats its mostly popular for its multiplayer, but there is the bitter irony. Ill say the story is fine, the concept of humanity finally banding together to kill some genocidal race it very interesting. But am I the only one that sees that the Gears multiplayer for BOTH games is terribly broken? If it did actually work perfectly, then it deserves the titles it wrongly owns today. But it does not. If I stated the problems its MP had, I would go past pages. Host advantage,Gun Inconsistincy, Lag-The major Gears2 turn off, and the major Gears1 turn off,Glitches. And thats just on the top of my head. For now, I gotta go, but leave your ideas-If your going to flame me,go ahead, other than me thinking its overrated, these problems are tried and true, and why people accept that is beyond me.

Same I don't hate the game but the story kinda reminds me of the halo games not really like it but kinda around it, I guess people like blowing heads off. :)

Both gears are great games, and look incredible. And ya, the servers really screw up multiplayer. BUT - i've played around offline, and certain things are simply not consistent at all. I'll shoot an active shotgun into my buddies head from point blank, and nothing will happen (he'll get massively hurt, but not die like he obviously should) - and then he'll blindfire and blow me away.

Its a great game, both online and offline. But it is indeed broken, whether offline or online. It's problems:
>Inconsistency
>Bad Servers
>LOTS of glitchers, lag switchers (its pretty much impossible to join a match without someone on one team bridging host)

I've never been more angry at a game then I have with GoW2 - online mulitplayer. So I vowed to never play it again once I got Modern Warfare 2 - which is freaking amazing if you haven't played it.

I wouldn't say its overrated, but it has killed itself in problems and people ruin the online experience.
