Is france acting reasonably in debating whether or not to ban the burka and hijab?

The muslim men cannot claim any religious grounds for forcing their women to dress in those dreadful black sacks.
it's a cultural thing of male domination and womens submission. and it has no place in any country which is not mired in the 16th century way of doing things.

remember, the oppression of women in the islamic countries doesnt just force them in what they wear, it denies them a voice, an education, and the simple rights to fairness in society which is dominated by reactionary and insecure men.
 
Reasonably, yes. The French live in a democracy and if the majority decide burkas and hijabs are unacceptable, then people will just have to live with that. If someone doesn't like it, then don't go to France.
