Is Fox News a good reason why we should bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

While free speech is a Constitutional right, broadcasters have a responsibility to report all sides of the issues. After I seen Fox's obituary on Ted Kennedy tonight, I think the fairness Doctrine might help Fox report more "fair and balanced". Rush and the others have nothing to fear as this is only for News broadcastes not Entertainment shows, regardless of how assanine they are.
I have noticed especially in the last month regarding health care that they have had quite a lot of one sided reporting with very little debate from the other side of the issues. I also find it shameful that Fox News were the ones who started this Tea Baggin and actually created a news story and sponsered it, that is not news. Is it time to help Fox make some changes?

Good grief. Are you so thin skinned and unsure of your beliefs that you cannot tolerate any challenges of such? The Fairness Doctrine is a heavy handed approach at information control. You have numerous options other than Fox. Watch them and know that as a member of the choir, you will hear what you wanna hear. What do you propose to do about the Internet? Good luck wrangling it in to satisfy your delicate sensibilities.

Fine, as long as your "fairness" doctrine include other news organizations like NBC, CBS and ABC. They need to show more conservative reporting, right?

In your first sentence you acknowledge that free speech is a right, then in the same sentence you make clear that you wish to override that right.

Go ahead and bring it back it might just help MSNBC with it's ratings since most people know just how biased that station is. Fox news is #1 because they represent both sides of the argument 99% of the time which is what the people want and like as it shows in Fox News ratings. Just go ask the many Liberals who do watch Fox News.

I suspect that sarcastic condescending pricks like Olbermann and Maddow will have to lose their jobs at MSNBC if the fairness doctrine applies to them and MSNBC is now going to have to be fair in it's coverage of the issues.

And what about CBS, NBC, ABC, The New York Times, The LA times, PBS and other "FAIR" wink wink, Liberal media outlets just to name a few, will the fairness doctrine apply to them?

Most of all, what about the College universities and it's faculty that is controlled mostly by the hard Left. How can anyone receive a fair education in America when the institutions are controlled by a one sided ideology? Will the fairness doctrine apply here as well?

the problem is: "Whos monitering the Moniters?"

Meaning whos watching those who are making sure everything is fair?

The person in charge of enforcing the fairness doctrine could shift the information given based on his point of view. Its a corruption holy grail.

Screw them. I don't see how they can report on a man who has JUST died in such a horrible manner.

They disgust me, and I will never watch anything on Fox "News" again.
