Is foreplay in a car, in a street illegal?

My boyfriend and I were going on a drive at night, and felt a bit frisky. We pulled into a street and got down to some business.

We checked to see no one was around, and it was dark. Is this illegal?

If it is illegal, is there any places aside from houses, hotels etc that ISNT illegal to do such things in?
