With the growing trend of rooftop gardens in cities in the US (and other parts of the world) I am wondering if the food is really safe. I'm not sure I want to eat something that is exposed to large levels of pollution as well as possible being watered by polluted rain water. Do plants absorb all those heavy metals and is it really safe to eat them?
I am reminded about the horror stories surrounding the Chernobyl disaster and how that affected the soil and the water and how nothing grown in that area is safe to eat and can cause great harm.
