They're like the starbucks of motorcycles. Everyone has their opinions about them, yet no one can say "oh, this is the best bike", because every one rides and adapts to a motorcycle differently. What works for you might now feel right for your buddy.
Typically Ducati's are very expensive, but they do offer very distinctive and advanced engineering on some bikes. They are original because they stick to a V-Twin engine layout for all their bikes besides MotoGp.

The 848 is their smaller version, but it is still over $10,000.
You want a better V-Twin IMO, look at the KTM RC8 1190. Beautiful IMO
