Is Degrassi the TV show a preppy show?

I wanna know if Degrassi the new generation is a preppy show cause my girlfriends sister says it isn't a preppy show
 
I don't really know how a show qualifies as "preppy". Degrassi is like a soap opera for pre-teens/teens. It is one of the most overly dramatic shows I have ever seen, and touches on topics like school shootings and teen pregnancy, and pretty much everything else you can possibly think of. It's addictive and easy to make fun of.
 
Does it matter? How can a show project the personality of a type of clique anyway?
 
i have found the southern Definition of preppy is WAYYYY different than the northern Definition so by mine i consider preppy as country clubs playing golf wearing vineyard vines and brooks brothers and jcrew and always acting classy and composed...so no i dont consider it a preppy show..abercombie and american eagle and hollister is soooo not preppy its considered trashy by classy southerners
