Is dance a sport? ??????

Some people consider Dance an Art and a Sport. Then again, some people consider Football an Art and a Sport, too. When done competitively, one can consider Dance a sport; many Dance studios and academies proudly display their trophies, like a sports coach would. However, I once read a quote that said something to the degree of: Dance is the sport of the Gods.

YES YES AND YES!!!...kk so me and my bff dance adn her bf adn my bro n sis say its notso when she was ovr we looked it up and it sooooo isss!!...i mean its proubly evn a better work out thensome off those other sports and takes more talt 2!!...s yes it is but ballet is more of and art i will say tht tough...adn dancing in compaticions adn all tht is lke a sport and is a sport..so its sport!!!

It is both an art form and a sport. It takes an athlete to play sports but it takes and athlete AND an artist to be a dancer.
And I think it hilarious how someone said sports are not choreographed. hahaha what do you call plays in football? Sports aren't controlled? Really? So why is it that when a basketball player goes to make a free throw the ball doesn't go in some crazy direction (most of the time...)?
According to google sport is defined as:
"an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition"
Lets see... dancing most definitely requires physical exertion.
There are dance competitions. hmm... so far so good.
Some people say its not a sport because their are no balls involved. Well wrestling and gymnastics don't involve a ball and those are OLYMPIC sports.
Just like any other Athletes dancers have to condition, train, exercise and hone their skills. Dancers get judged, criticized, mocked for making a mistake, spend countless hours to get one move right. Sounds to me like any other sport.
So yes dancing is a sport.

No its not. Dancing is an art form. You need artistry to be a dancer, and athletes dont need artistry. Dancing is controlled and sports are not controlled. Also dancing is choreographed, sports arent choreographed. Im mainly talking about ballet but dancing is an art form. It is beautiful. I would say that football and basketball are not beautiful.

most certainly. I consider anything that makes a person sweat, has a large usage of muscle, and has the possibility of injury, a sport.
