I just purchased a laptop, and some of the files from my old PC can only be access properly through my flash drive. The only remedy to this is that I leave my flash drive plugged in to my laptop. I understand that if you don't perform the 'safely remove hardware' procedure, it'll damage the storage device, but can it be damaged if you power down your PC with the device still in?
