is cormac mccarthy a liteary fiction writer or a pulp fiction novelist?

I hear hes all the rave these days, i just want to know what type of writer he is. And how's his prose i hear its different.
And please write why you think he is either a liteary writer or pulp fiction. The longer your answer is the better/
