educate themselves? I no it was passed a long time ago, but is it supposed to be a career? Continuously raising the minimum wage only hurts everybody. First, most people who already make more only receive the increase in the cost of living that business have to adjust to pay the higher wage. Next, some of the businesses will chose to release a worker to keep the cost down to their customers. Consider what is going to happen when small businesses get hit with this, then the health care reform passes that will increase the income tax for businesses that can't afford government insurance by 50%. What is going to be the only alternative for most of these small businesses.
 
The minimum wage has to be increased every so often because of inflation.

Making minimum wage still keeps you about at the poverty level.
