My friends and I got into a heated discussion about the Spurs and Lakers matching up. I claim that this year the Spurs have a better chance than the Lakers of winning the finals.
So my friend decided to go player for player on who I would rather have. He asked would I rather have Popovich of Jackson? I said Popovich right away and claimed that Jackson is overrated because of the players he has had.
Popovich has taken Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli and Tim Duncan and built them as a powerhouse team for the past seven years in the league. While Jackson left the Lakers when they were struggling with talent. As soon as Jackson comes back he is rewarded with fantastic players. I don't see the basketball IQ in Jackson that I do when I watch Popovich.
So is it right to think that Popovich is a better coach than Jackson?
