Seriously, I just posted a questions wondering if it was a bad thing that I went on a date and we took turns paying for the drinks. It wasn't an expensive meal, it was just a few drinks. I was asked out, he's courting me. In one of the replies, a guy said "You probably earn just as much as him, you can't have your cake and eat it too etc etc.", should I be penalised for having a job?
I was also told I had some cheek to expect a man to pay for a few drinks for me. Hello? HE ASKED ME OUT?!?!?!! Yes it's 2009, but do old fashioned values not count for anything? I work because nowadays women HAVE to. But I was not a member of "The Spice Girls", I did not opt for all this "Girl Power" bullsh!t. I still like gentlemen. Someone to hold open doors, buy me a drink, ask me to dance etc etc. What's wrong with that??? Apparently I shouldn't expect it because I work and it's 2009. I personally believe men are stingy and chivalry is dead. And men who are of this opinion should be ashamed of themselves.
Please understand that this was a first date. Of course in relationships it's give and take and I would never expect to be supported. But men are driven sexually and women are driven emotionally. Treat me like a princess and I'll treat you like a man...get me? First date buying four drinks isn't that much of a hard push. If he doesn't think I'm worth that then I'm not going to continue with it. He expects me to pay my way and in the end I'll give him sex? HE can't have his cake and eat it too.
