Is China progressing towards a democracy or towards military rule?

it would seem obvious to me that China is currently under military rule...

so my question is do you see the country advancing towards democracy (as in the Soviet Union in the 1980's) or towards increasingly militaristic rule (as in North Korea over the past decade)?

Military rule. They are concerned about the large numbers of disgruntled unemployed veterans. It seems they are considered a potential threat to the peace there. One of the reason the military in China is so large is to provide jobs.

Hi Jeffrey,

How old are you?
Do you read other sources of news other than CNN?

China is walking toward a Market Economy, yet still Socialist, it is no longer a true Communist country anymore. You need to read on.

If you saw and read about China 30 years ago, you will not recognize it today. It's completely different. Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chongqing, etc, are major cities that are growing rapidly, people are free to choose their own career and life path.

Most people know this, that's why I ask where have you been in the last 10 years?

Furthermore, China's been very transparent with media as well. China's leaders are actively visiting other countries and making speeches.

Your thoughts of China are very wrong, but obviously if your only source of news is CNN, than yeah, you'll think China is bad.

** Side note: There exists a group of people who like to bash China, it's fine, they're just frustrated that America is slowly losing its grip on the World.

Americans are funny people, if you are weak, and dependent on them, they will not bash you. If you oppose them, they will send the troops, but they have never fought a country that can actually fight back. Thats why Americans are frustrated by China. China's growing, America's declining in debt, war.

How many more billions can the US mint print to finance America's war on "TERRORISM"?

tomorrow evening expect periods of intense attacks on all opposition...with the expectation of a gradual acceptance and toward the weekend partly cloudy with a chance of riots and tear gas

Towards a democracy. Slowly. Today's Chinese are using the internet and reading sources and news from all over the world, you cant censored people's mind. It's only a matter of time when China adopts a Liberal Democracy.

Good question
