deal with my nan? Hi everyone, I am thinkng about joining the regular army because I have been in the territorial army for over 8 months and I really enjoy being in the T.A although the squadron I am in will be moving to a new base, stratford which would be tricky to get to. Anyways I would like to join the regular army and my parents seem to be proud that I have made the decision on my own, i even joined the t.a myself, with little confidence when my family weren't happy. The problem now, is my nan isn't happy but she's the one who brought me up. I want to break free and make my own decisions, i feel as if the army is for me, sept my nans forever talking about being bullied, i think i can handle the bulling as i was bullied through out school and the friends i have made in the t.a are completelty different to people i have met else where... what do you think, should I join? is bullying that bad? i know bulling occurs everywhere and i think im ready, but its the fact that my nan wont even talk to me properly about wanting to join...she makes me feel as if i should be guilty for even wanting to join. when i did the barb test i got a high score cs we know its easy and i have my selection day next week... but my nan insists that i should get a normal job..

I think you should ask your nan why she believes it is a bad idea to join up if you enjoy it and say why should you have to do a job that you don't enjoy when there is a perfectly good job that you enjoy doing as a job is much easier when you enjoy it?And just say that you've grown up and need to make your own desicions about the path of your life!
For the bullying, it isn't that bad but if you do get bullied then show you won't take it from the start that way they'll probably move on and leave you alone! If it does persist then tell an NCO that you trust or your OC and they'll sort it out as the Army doesn't take bullying!
Good Luck with your nan and good luck in the Army, with your training, new regiment and your first deployment!
