is bottled water harmful to fish?

Well, it depends.

What was the water chemistry of the water he was in before you put him in the bottled water? And what is the water chemistry of the bottled water? If they are both vastly different, that would be bad.

I am more concerned with the fact that he is in a bowl. Goldfish can get quite large and live for a long time with proper care. He may survive for a bit in a bowl, but he definitely won't be thriving.

i have a goldfish. its in a good sized bowl now. i filled it with bottled water.. is that bad? i heard it is fine. but someone who answered my last question said it wasnt... help?

Bottled drinking water may contain chlorine. I had rather use tap and add water conditioner.

The bowl is what will kill him. Goldfish grow fairly large and produce a lot of waste. The bowl lacks vital filtration, room for waste dilution, and swimming space. They require appropriately sized aquariums and heavy filtration to thrive.
