Is biking as effective as running for cardio? is it more effective? less... ?

I have heard that running is essential for losing body fat/building abs...

would biking be just as good? do they workout the same muscles? would it be just as good for cardio as running? is it better than running? would i need to do more or less? or is running just better?

Personally, I believe it can be better if done right. By that, gradual hills, staying in a gear that requires constant cycling. Also not as tough on your knee and hip joints which is why I recommend it. If you can bike safely in your area.
