IS being the least race represented in the media a good thing?

It seems to me that Asians seem to be the least represented in mainstream media. Being the least represented minority has its advantages and disadvantages, advantages would be less haters, the less you are known about and the less represented you are the less people can either choose to love you or hate you.. there is no in between. As we know blacks and whites are represented in the media ALOT, you can either choose to love them or hate them.. but with asians there not represented enough to actually choose or form any idea of them other then "neutral".. which CAN be a good thing..

The disadvantage of being underrepresented in the media is that in the asian community they have no one to look up to in the main stream media. Most asians are either white washed or black washed.. there is no in between. They grow up ashamed of there culture and try so hard to fit into the white culture or the black culture, because there culture is so under represented in the media. And no anime is not asian culture lol i find it sad that even with asian anime the characters depicted in the show usually appear to look white.

What are your thoughts on this, and no i do not want to hear "what is white wash and black wash" you know very well what i mean. If you want to play dumb don't bother answering my question.
see i know if this question was geared towards either whites or blacks there would be tons of answers.. anyways feel free to share your thoughts.

You've made some good points. There are advantages such as people feeling neutral towards us, while as there are disadvantages as people start to judge us according to the few they know. I've also noticed that Black people rebuke on the harassment they get, while most Asians pretty much just quietly take it and not really do anything about it. Assuming that you're only talking about American Asians, I've met a lot of them that were what you would call "White washed". However there are quite a few who managed to stay in tact with their culture and traditions even if they are second generation in another country, such as myself.

I personally think it isn't bad being under represented in the media, since the stereotypes portrayed through the media are quite misleading. It gives people the chance to actually learn about Asians through meeting us in person, and not through stereotypes portrayed in the media.
