Is being gay genetic or just a choice or lifestyle?

Being gay has seen like the new it for my generation. Now since the rainbow society is growing is it because of choice or the lifestyle has change the way they think about their lives. {they meaning ppl that out of nowhere becoming gay or even just bi}

to be honest with you i think it is genetic. no body wakes up one day and says oh im a bisexual now (unless your doing it just for attention)
i've read about romans verse 27 before, we even went over this in my bible study class. and it doesnt refer or say anything about homosexuality. it actually reflects more towards idolizing other gods and how it is wrong to do so. i personally believe its genetic, because unless you are someone who chooses to be with the same gender cause you think its what is "in" or popular, you would know and understand its just apart of who you are. i don't think a lot of people understand this either just because they don't know what it is like to have to deal with being confused or teased in school because your gay. and yeah nobody should judge because everyone is different

I don't think any sexual orientation is genetic. I think it just develops as your growing up (typically grade school and on up to high school and after). And people don't choose to be gay. Why would you choose to purposely get teased, humiliated, or possibly disowned by family and friends? Why would someone purposely go through all that emotional pain. That's how it's not a choice.

I think it's just now it's more accepted people are revealing they were gay all along.

It annoys me, hearing things like this. Sure, there are those people out there who pretend to be gay or bisexual because they think it's "in." Some are just utterly confused. But maybe, just maybe, more people are showing up in the gay community because society is far more accepting than it was twenty years ago.

Anyway, rant aside, I believe my sister (she's majoring in science, so I'm quoting her xD) once told me that there was a study out saying it was actually genetic for some? I mean, don't pin me to my words, it was a while back. I thought she mentioned that some gay men didn't grow facial, back, chest hair, etc. I'm sure there are people out there that just don't grow hair and whatnot, so... Google it maybe?

Actually it IS genetic. Mostly on the maternal side. Scientists HAVE found strains of DNA that are only characteristic to gay men. This study was exclusively for males, and I have not heard/read anything about females.
