Not really I wanted to see...may have to switch brands...

my wife's e71 has been giving her issues as well (i live in ft. lauderdale). it's been re-booting at least 2-3 times/day.. this really sucks because she really loves the phone and has no other problems other than that... my n97 has not been re-booting on a regular basis; so the problem is definitely only with the e71; sucks

Lets see. . .

Dropped Calls
Connection Error when trying to dial out
Random Rebooting of Phone
Battery Draining Quicker then Normal

This time I have a new issue!
Now the phone doesn't ring

Way to Go Nokia. I'm sorry, but I still blame AT&T partially for this issue as they allow the phone on their network. However, Nokia hasn't done a single thing to fix the issue. In fact I feel like it's getting worse!

I've since contacted Nokia Again and they are "Escalating" the issue. I'm supposed to get a call back in 48 Hrs. I'm not holding my breath.

No, I never updated to 30 after I heard there were no changes except for the OVI store. Of course, that was the final straw with me and Nokia and I began to look for another phone that didn't suck.

The network issue forced my hand to buy a new phone. It's hard to see modern phones not living up to the functionality in the N95.

Then why is this happening just now? I've had this phone since Oct of '08 with the same firmware and never had an issue until now. I've updated the firmware since I started having issue (which I now regret, I lost the unsigned apps hack). Also, I've been down this road with a previous phone and at&t. The Motorola V3xx, to be precise, back in '07 when the phone and 3G network were released.

At&t's tech support expressed that the phone reboots because the connection with the tower is disrupted. The phone looses it's network connection and reboots to establish a network connection again as a last resort. Albeit not a desired form of network diagnostics resolution, but the same thing happens/ed on my 8310 Blackberry, Mototrola V3xx, and Google G1 phone. My friends with iPhones complain of similar connections issues without the rebooting. Further proof, the issue only happens during peak hours, and in heavy network usage areas (Financial District & E Mid-Town, nyc). More proof that they've oversold the network, they just imposed caps on iphone data connections.

When I set the phone to GSM or UMTS only the rebooting issue goes away. Unfortunately, at&t's network is so weak in either or that it's pretty much unusable in those modes. I agree Nokia is partly responsible for the issue, and should be actively supporting the consumer and not the provider in this instance (they know where their bread is buttered), but at&t spec'd the phone to work on their network. So ultimately at&t is responsible to make it work or work with the vendor.

at&t still sucks.

Mine would randomly reboot about once or twice a day. And here I thought it was my POS Nokia e71 that was rebooting itself, but come to find out that it was due to AT&T.:mad:

Well, here in warm and muggy SoFlo my 6650 hasn't shown any problems with the 3.26 firmware.

Now it seems "all" we have to do is wait for Nokia to write some "software" for a phone they no longer "wish" to sell.

I'm gonna hold my breath and you guys call me when is done. Or when they finish fixing, er... re-writing the e72 and finally release it

I'll be in NW Indiana and Chicago this weekend with my N97...I'll be paying attention to any unusual issues..altho the N97 is notorious for dropping a 3G call

AT&T's tech support expressed that the E71x is rebooting for the aforementioned reasons? Because I have yet to have them admit anything about the E71x other than a "resolved issue with picture mail"

While you want to put the blame on AT&T FWIW I find their network just fine. I have a V3xx as the other phone on my account -- without issues. And the Samsung WinMo phone I had before (AT&T branded) worked just fine, the Palm Centro I bought when I send the E71 for service the first time worked just fine (admittedly it is only EDGE) but so does the HTC S743 I got a few days ago it has yet to reboot a single time in the same network under the same conditions even with the same SIM card.

Between sending the E71 back to PELCO and getting it back I also got my SIM card replaced -- of course that did not help.

My n78 has been doing this for ages (easily all year if not more) - I'm in Orange County CA and at first it only happened when I was at work, but then it started happening everywhere. No updates helped, full reset of the phone didn't help, only thing that works is to stay on GSM...which is annoying because I tether regularly. The rebooting was so bad sometimes it would happen 5 or 6 times in a row - usually while I was attempting to write a text msg. I almost threw the phone against the wall - then I just went back to GSM only and it no longer happens...huge disappointment...still I really like the durability of the nokias I've had over the years and tho this phone is often annoying it does what I need it to do.

I don't think my wife's n82 has the same problem. I was surprised because her phone is set to Dual Band.

Ok but I am still trying to figure out what a 2x15 pin female connector has to do with any of this?? Is there even such a connector in our phones?

If you escalated within the outsourced "Nokia Care" you will be getting a call from the Philippines! I got one and my callerid read 63262021100 (+63 is their country code). They were just as helpful to me as the rest of the outsourced Nokia support organization.

It should be ok in that area. A few weeks ago, when I visited that area my E71 was rock solid up there. Then back to Miami, FL it was rebooting like crazy. To add insult to injury the phone is always warm and the battery life has really been compromised (about 15-20 hour battery life, with no running apps).

I'll be back in Chicago in a few hours and look forward to having a phone that runs normal again ;-)

I did get a call from exactly 63262021100. GREAT!! They told me to send it back again, and to put Attention Customer Support Manager on the label and inside.

I did but it's still in their hands. I don't have much faith but if all else fails I am going to the extended warranty service with American Express.

Shame, Shame on Nokia and AT&T. If this doesn't end well, I will make sure to Lambaste both companies in what ever public forum I can participate.

I wonder if this is affecting my N97. The past week or so at my house, 3G is absolutely erratic. iPhone3GS and Razors seem fine.

If my N97 is locked to UTMS or allowed to Dual Mode it will never indicate there is a signal issue until a call is made (3.5g indicator), then I'll get a connection error and the signal will drop. I have to lock to GSM (edge) to get anything.

The only reason I started noticing, outside the absence of calls and texts... was at home my N97 will hit the Wifi and I started getting my voicemail messages on my e-mail with my phone never ringing (Youmail).

I live in the East County of San Diego, CA and work in Carlsbad, CA (North County San Diego). I've never seen this before until a week ago. I'm wondering if the area by my house is going through something right now. I know this was one of the first areas in San Diego that started seeing 3G, and 3g on 850... wonder if this a test market.

This is truly a cluster-F* if AT&T is doing something out of spec. Maybe I will switch to T-Mobile once the N900 drops.
