Is AT&T rebooting your phone and draining your batt?

Definately noticed some decreased battery over the past month on ATT's 3G network in DC. Have had the random rebooting issue as well. I definately agree on setting the phone to GSM only, it nearly doubles the battery between charges.

A few weeks ago while driving through northern NJ on the GSP, both my friend and I who both have N95-3 phones experienced a continuous reboot simultaneously. This reboot lasted about three reboots and I assumed it had something to do with a particular cell site since I had never experienced this phenomenon. After driving a little further, the problem went away. It was pretty freaky since it happened to both our phones at exactly the same time.

AT&T will be rolling out a FOTA to fix all the Nokia phones sold by them. Hopefully, Nokia will do a firmware update for all the unlocked E71-2. 3rd carrier on UMTS is not a common configuration that is why problem is limited to few areas.

I'm having lack of 3G issues too.

I suspect it's this: I'd read that AT&T is shifting around much of its cell radio traffic and off-loading much of 3G data to the 850 frequency. They're also prioritizing iPhones. They can see if iPhones are pulling down data, and shifting the traffic to them as a priority.

It's either one of the two: Nokia phones or the way AT&T is shifting their data traffic around.....or both.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I will take my 6650 to Miami after all. Hopefully they will start it this week, before I get there. :buddies:

My 6650 from AT&T is on GSM/Edge due to location in the sticks, no 3G available. No reboots there.
My N85 is rarely on the ATT 3G network, because I usually lock it to GSM/Edge. The city locations I travel to usually have poor 3G service due to iPhone overload/congestion. In those areas GSM/Edge has been better for light web use. There have not been any reboots on this phone GSM or occasional 3G use.

My 6650 has been stable and reliable ( as stable and reliable as a 200MHz, 24MB RAM beast can be!) in DC lately. The NSU update must have done the trick.

Havebn't been back to NYC, where the issue was more pronounced, since the last occurrence/visit in June-ish

I was told by the pelco/nokia agent that a firmware from Early September was released for my E71-2 NAM. The version was supposed to be v300.21.021 but the updater program wouldn't recognize my product code.

I've sent my phone back to Nokia. I'm really upset with this whole experience. This is supposed to be their "flagship business phone," and the quality of the service I've received so far has been abysmal.

Finger's crossed that they do something while they have it.

I am in Chicago, Suburbs, and central illinois. My phone never reboots unless I try to do too many things at once (IE hack it and mess around with theme effects). My e71 never had any issues like this.

Well nothing honestly. I think it should be under 10 times to send it in to be able to get them to send me another phone?

Put it this way. The European E71 has software 300.x since almost a year ago. If they can't even give us a minor update why would they fix such a major problem?

So that means they flashed my phone and send it back basically? I wonder if they figured out a way to get v300 on it?
