Is astronomy a good subject for kids to like?

I'm in 7th grade and I love astronomy. I got a telescope for Christmas and love using it. I read all the books i can about astronomy. I don't learn about it in school. I teach it to myself. Is it a good thing to be interested in? Can i get a good job with it when I'm older?
I'm not an Asian work ant. Hahaha.
