Is arguing about racism like arguing about religion and politics?

No, unlike religion race can be discussed using logical debate.

Of course many people buy into the doctrine that we're all the same and that there are no differences between the races besides color....well not much to debate there if you're that closed minded.

Some people like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who deny the existence of the holocaust are just ignorant to the truth on purpose to justify their vile hatred.

The same thing you will find with racist people.

You can't argue with ahmandinjad that the holocaust did happen and you can't argue with a racist person that all men are created equal.

In the respect that ill-informed emotional argumentation will never get anywhere or sway opinion, then yes they are similar. However, discussion of all three of these topics, even arguments when based in fact and logic, can lead to a greater elucidation of the situation in question and the underlying belief systems of those involved in the discussion. Therefor, I do not believe these ventures are fundamentally pointless. I just think too many people either refuse to be involved in, or are incapable of, an honest and open discussion.
