Hi,

I had an MRI scan in March 2010, they scanned my brain and sent me some pdf's of my coranal slice and sagital section.

On Friday 2 Jul I got a letter to tell me they had "identified some minor changes" "please contact us to discuss further" etc etc

I have a Dr's appointment on 14 July..... can anyone tell what the images mean if I upload them?

Please.

Thanks

unfortunetly you cannot show images here on this site, but you should and can type out what is in the actual radiology report findings(you can obtain one from the facility that just did that MRI or your doc who ordered the MRI, but the facility and just going there usually IS much much quicker)? you should be obtaining ANY and ALL real testing reports for yourself anyways just so YOU actually have them for your own files you should be just keeping on yourself at home? esp when you may have any type of ongoing or chronic condition that you are simply needing alot of testing for and seeing other docs too? but DO type out that report once you get it. that alone would really help. just that summary on the very back and the end of your report is usually just fine? this at least allows us to look thru the hard findings and usually someone will know what this means or can help youy to better decipher the terms used. but DO type it word for word as the interpretting radiologist actually wrote it. that does matter with certain words that they use to describe certain findings? i hope that helped some. I've already emailed for the radiologly report. I did it on Friday so i'm not expecting a reply just yet. Doctor's appointment on Mon 12 July and Neurologist thereafter.

Thanks for the info, I post more info when I have it.

Hi,

The radiologist's wording is:

"There is some periventricular and deep biparietal white matter T2 hyperintensities with mild association reduction in white matter bulk. Is there a history of ischaemia in early life?"

The answer to "ischaemia" is we don't know. My doctor will have to look up the archived records to establish the answer.

I am now pending a neurologist appointment but I would like to have the above in English!

Thanks to anyone who can help.

hologram,

I believe the radiologist is looking into any history of possible stroke or TIA's. The report sound like you may have small vessel disease. This means that blood flow is reduced in the small vessels. I was diagnosed with this a few years back and it really is just an informational diagnosis. If you are experiencing symptoms of TIA's (transient ischmiac(sp) attacks-mini strokes) or have been having headaches or some dizzyness, your blood pressure maybe being a little high, than you primary care or the neurologist may suggest medication to keep your blood pressure low or suggest that you begin an aspirin therapy to thin you blood. There is really nothing else that they do.

Let me know how you do at the neurologist.

Hi Brenda,

Although my knowledge is limited I have come to a similar conclusion as your self based on my internet research.

I certainly will post any further information and aslo the neurologist's opinion as soon as I get the appointment.

Thanks very much for your opinion, I do appreciate it.

Jules
