During 2002-2006 I thought Rock Music was dead for sure, the music that dominated was Rap music, with the only rock song during that period to top the hot 100 chart was You're Beautiful by James Blunt. But then I noticed Rock Music slowly rising up again. The Following year 2007, Maroon 5 topped the chart, so did Avril Lavigne and Plain White T's all topping the chart, which all happen to be in the Rock Genre. Then the next year, 2008, 3 Rock Songs topped the chart,Viva La Vida by Cold Play, I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry and so what by Pink. Then in 2009, 2 Rock songs topped the charts, My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson and the electro-rock song Fire Flies by Owl City. In 2010, though, it only has garnished one rock song, Raise Your Glass by Pink, though Pop Rock Singer Katy Perry had 3 #1 hits, all rock influenced Pop songs.
and too top everything off, from 2008-2010 Billboard top 200 has seen Rock Music at the Top with majority of the #1 albums being of the Rock Genre.
So is anyone noticing that Rock is coming back strong? And why is everyone on Youtube making it look like Rock is a dying genre on metal vids?
