Is anime going to be the only animation soon?

I'm also surprised by this question, but the obvious answer is that anime will not, repeat not, be the only form of animation soon. First off, actual anime comes from Japan only. Some art styles may appear like anime, but if they're not created in Japan, then they're not anime. Second off, other countries are still making their own animated series and only a few series could actually qualify as drawn in an anime style. Besides all of that, anime is popular and all, but not that much to actually be a force against all other animation.

I was thinking of saying France is anime, and Japan is anim? (with an accent), but then decided it made no real sense whatsoever. I also considered using Japanime, but also decided it was dumb...

Actually, it would be the other way around. Letters don't have accents in Japanese...

Cartoons in France are called 'dessins anim?'. Cartoons in Japan are called, obviously, anime. Though most will simply call them 'French cartoons' since 'dessins anim?' is a bit of a mouthful.

I wouldn't say Anime is going to be the only animation in the future since there are plently of other cartoon styles in existance with some having and some not having as strong a popularity as anime, but, it has a very strong popularity over the comic industry and so you would assume that such comics like Marvel and DC would have anime versions of their own comics. Anime can't take over entirely, but it will retain a strong influence.

No, the Japanese made a short form of the English word "animation" which is, coincidentally, the same as a word in the French language. I've found two Japanese sources that back that up, but none which back up the "taken from the French" thing.
