Is American Dad better than Family Guy?

Am i the only one who thinks that American Dad is actually better than the current episodes of Family Guy? I mean, last season alone had several classic eps (best Christmas story never, black mystery month, AT The abusive terrestrial, and the refugee camp episode), all episodes with innovative plotlines and lots of humor. Meanwhile, while i still like FG, its getting old, and their relying on repetitive humor, and even though there are some good gags (ie, the scene with stewie looking through the candy jar and continually pulling out odd stuff), its almost as if their relying on the cutaways and forgetting about the plots.

In my opinion, American Dad has had a lot more on the ball than Family Guy, as of late. However, if Fox continues keeping American Dad going for years to come, I can see it eventually going the same road Family Guy has.

Family Guy has it's moments - and as far as the newer ones go, those moments are becoming few and far in between.

I think overall American Dad is more solidly entertaining. It tells a cohesive story much better then Family Guy, which has stopped telling stories and instead alters it's plot to accomidate gags; and is pretty funny to boot.

While I casually enjoy both shows for different reasons, American Dad has shown itself to have relatively deeper character development and conflict. Though the family came off as shoddy knock-offs at first, they've really become much more rounded than Family Guy's cast. They're in a lot more turmoil with a foggier future, whereas Peter's family seems more settled and content in their stupidity.

Yeah, I think American Dad is way better right now. Family Guy was alright for the first three seasons, but for whatever reason, when it came back, at the same time American Dad debuted, it wasn't at the same level of quality as before. In my mind, American Dad now fills the role that Family Guy used to, since Family Guy's current writing is embarassingly formulaic and lazy, not to mention unfunny in most cases.

At first, I was reluctant to accept American Dad, because it seemed so derivative of Family Guy, and the characters just didn't appeal to me as much, but after watching more episodes, I don't mind the characters anymore. The show gives me the same sort of entertainment that Family Guy used to.

I actually think American Dad is much worse than Family Guy. American Dad seems to take the faults of Family Guy, and make them ten times worse. I've only seen a few episodes of American Dad that really had laughs throughout the episodes. While many characters on Family Guy are pretty unlikeable, I actually hate most of the characters on American Dad.

I at least thought the 1st seasons of Family Guy were funny, but I never liked American Dad. Most of the FG characters were merely annoying, as opposed to the AD characters, most of whom are utterly repulsive and not funny in the least. Stan himself and his daughter Hayley are arguably among the most unlikable characters on TV right now. Stan Smith is such an unbearable jerk and Hayley is such a whiny little nag that whenever I see them on screen I want to hit them both really hard. It's hard to get into a show when you can't stand it's main character, which is why I never got into AD.
