Women in Asia and probably in the Middle East get the impression that American culture is more civilized in how it treats it women. The American media depicts women as bossy, moody, promiscuous, self-conscious, and an object of desire for multiple men (i.e. Sex and the City, Twilight, Jersey Girls, etc.) Women in the US have the advantage of gender equality coupled with old fashioned notions of chivilary in which men are inclined to pay for dates, open doors, and respect a woman's right to become emotionally irrational.
It seems wonderful for a woman to go from being the "honor thy husband" housewife to the "I don't need a man" independent career woman. However, with 50% of children being born to single mothers in the US and the detrimental effects of raising a child in a broken household (increased crime rates, poverty rates, and lack of education), an unfordable welfare system will be required to support the disadvantaged children of single mothers and their cultural choice to start a family on their own.
In a more traditional country like China, we see the opposite - the younger generations are far more educated than the older generations. They have strong social pressure to marry wisely, to at least procreate with someone whom can take care of their children. As a result, the longstanding title of "the most educated, large-size populace" will be taken from the US and handed to China. The private capital of the US will naturally gravitate to where the talent is, China. In the coming decades, the US will struggle to keep its bastard youth from simply dropping out of highschool and finding a way to help the children of 20 million poor illegal immigrant families in which neither parent has a highschool education nor english speaking skills. Additionally, laws that force men to pay child support or go to prison will reinforce a woman's choice to have a baby on their own (preventing the mother's future education/career).
My point is this, the independent lifestyle choices for women in the US cannot be financially supported. Their parents, their children, and they themselves will suffer greatly. China has yet to peak in the potential of its youth, the older generations barely learned to read and write standard Mandarin. The older generations of the US come from more stable households and didn't have to pay outrageous tuition fees.
American women only have the illusion of freedom when in fact, their reckless choices aren't even independent, they are derived from peer pressure more than family pressure. They concern themselves with their status amongst their peers, not the wider community.
