hey guys im thinking of buying a toyota celica 1991 model and i was wondering if they are imports (i live in australia, queensland)
i was just wondering because if its an import it will cost more for insurance.... thanks guys
its a 1991 TOYOTA CELICA ST184R SX

Check the plate on the back wall of the engine bay, there will be a plat that will have engine and chassis paint codes etc on it, ifd it say Toyota Motor co Japan or the likes its an import. If it says Toyota Australia then its not. Dude im from NZ and that sucks big time. I recon a Jap built car would be better off than an aus assembled because there soo stringent in japan, an they loved it back in the day!

I would say that anything that is not manufactured in your country would be an import. Usually cars from Japan are called imports. Toyota is Japanese so I would say that it is considered to be import.

the st184 celica fitted with a 5sfe is imported into aust by toyota motor corp there is a few grey imports in aust but most of these are either st182 or 183 in convertible form or they are 4wheel steer unlike the st 184 is front wheel drive they were sold in aust in 2 body forms we had the coupe which has a boot like a std sedan the other being a lift back which has a large lift up back door if it is aust delivered it will have pretty high klm's on the clock top dollar for a good one would be around $2500.00 aussie if you copy down the vin from rego label and contact your local toyota parts dept they can check if aussie sold or grey import
