Is a sew in weave a good choice for college?

I recently got my hair cut because I thought it would be easier for college. I was SO wrong. I tried washing it and it was terrible. I want to get a sew in weave now but my mom won't listen. So I need really good reasons to show her why a weave is better.
my hair's not really short it's still half-way on my neck, I hope it's not to short so it can't be braided.
