I may get an outdoor dog. Are mallamutes ok being outside? A heated shelter will be provided in the winter. and for the summer there will be tons of shade since it will be living in the woods. Also, Are they friendly?
I live there, and ill always be outside with it.!!!

Sure they're friendly, all dogs are, unless they have been badly treated.
Why get a dog just to keep it outside?

yeah i have malamute / collie mix right now..

she loves running and playing outside.. even in the winter they can handle the cold cause thats the nature of their breed. the summer they will pant a lot like mine, but she still loves it

she gets a long very good with other dogs, not dominant at all. very nice to new people.

shes also really hyper though!

they are working dogs.
The need a job to do..use a doggie back pack when you go for walks.
They have thier coat to protect them in the winter months after pulling dog sleds.
Generally Malamutes are the first 2 dogs in front of the sled and then the huskeys in front of them because of thier strength and stamina.. They are BORN TO MOVE and NEED space.
They get bored easily.
Get lots of toys bastketballs, chewy toys. I have a big rope 2" thick rope with a knot tied at the bottom and then tie it to a tree branch so he can wrestle with it and pull on it, my pup loves it!
The Alaskan Malamute is an affectionate, friendly dog, not a "one man" dog. He is a loyal, devoted companion, playful in invitation, but generally impressive by his dignity after maturity.
Owner of a wolf malamute hybrid..

Generally, they become not so friendly when kept outside consistantly without proper social interaction like some sort of lawn gnome.
