Is a laptop tv tuner card worth the money?

I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite A355-S6925 and was considering purchasing a tv tuner card for it. My question is, will I get the local digital tv on it? Does it also need an antenna? Do I have to connect my cable wire from my home to it? And basically is it worth the money? Any insight on the tuner card would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a digital and analog tuner on my desktop and I love it. I can record shows when I'm gone and rewind and pause live tv which is great when I am watching sports. To me it was worth the money plus more.

If you buy a tuner however make sure it is a really good one. USB tuners for laptops tend to be not so great. Also make sure it is compatible with Vista Media Center, all other programs are terrible.

You will need to connect your cable wire to it to get analog cable. If you want to get an over the air signal you will need an antenna. Also since everything is digital now you will need a card with a digital tuner (or a converter box I suppose).

No its not. You would need at least an antenna and if you have cable, you couldnt use the tuner. You would have to se the tuner on the card to the output of your cable box and tune with the cable box. I've had half a dozen of them. If you want to watch cable on your pc, get a video capture card and tune it with a cable box
