Im a big guy and Im looking for my first bike. I want to buy a cruiser and I like the Vulcan. I also had my eye on a Victory Vegas 8 Ball. I just want to make sure I dont buy a bike that is too small for me just to save money. Any help would be appreciated.

Personally I think both of those would be under powered for someone your size. Also with your stature I think while riding you would feel awkward and out of place because the size of the bike would seem too small. I would recommend looking into at least a 1200. A lot of people may say you don't need one that big but when you pull out to pass another vehicle you want to know that you can do it with ease and confidence. If you do choose between the 2 you mentioned go with the 900. It's probably about half the price and twice the quality of the 8 ball.

There's only one way to find out. I worked for a Victory dealer
for a short time and we just loved to go for test rides. All you need is
a motorcycle license and some warmer weather. They are a bit
pricey but well worth the money. The ride is incredible. You'll see.

Good Luck on your first bike...
One last thing. You don't have to buy brand new. But it's real nice
to be able to drive something you are about to spend money on
as opposed to some dealers that let you look only....

Go for it....

Go sit on it and find out. See how it feels to ya. Are you comfortable? Got enough leg room? Are you humped over or relaxed? No matter what YOU buy you might have to change the seat and or handlebars to fit the bike to you because of your size. As far as power you'll be fine. But I would go out and look at all the bikes that flip your switch and see what feels best. Also ask the dealer and friends what kind of accessories are available for the the bike you are looking at.
Good Luck
